Kathy Howrigan

Consulting Partner

In 2022, Kathy launched her own consulting firm and rejoined Marts&Lundy as a Consulting Partner.  She has worked as a fundraiser and analyst in both the nonprofit and for-profit markets for over 25 years. Her experience as a leader and frontline fundraiser with deep knowledge of operations and analytics allows her to offer clients a distinct dual perspective on programs.

During the height of the pandemic, Kathy stepped away from consulting to serve as the Vice President for Strategic Engagement at the University of Vermont Foundation. As a senior advancement strategist for the organization, she led the creation of an integrated, data-driven and audience-focused approach to alumni, donor, and volunteer engagement while simultaneously creating and launching two concurrent campaigns.

Kathy was a consultant with Marts&Lundy from 2011 to 2020, where she served over 100 clients.  In addition to campaign-related counsel and analytics, Kathy worked with clients on their annual giving programs, using data and operations assessments to significantly increase annual giving. Before joining  Marts&Lundy in 2011, Kathy was Director for the Saint Michael’s Fund and for Advancement Services at St. Michael’s College, Vermont where she oversaw annual, reunion, and student giving programs; development of messaging for the annual fund; volunteer management and leadership of the advancement services department. Kathy had previously worked at Dartmouth College for seven years, in roles ranging from Director of Prospect Management to Director of Marketing and Analysis for the Dartmouth College Fund.

Kathy has also served as a Marts&Lundy Board Member, a member of the Editorial Review Board for Giving USA (the annual report on philanthropy) and as a faculty member for Rice University’s Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership.
