Jeffrey A. Schoenherr

Jeff joined Marts & Lundy in 2025 with 32 years of experience as a leader in higher education and healthcare advancement. He has served in increasingly greater roles at some of the nation's most prestigious institutions, including Harvard, Johns Hopkins, the University of Michigan, Emerson College, The Ohio State University, and West Virgina University. His understanding of diverse types of institutions, both public and private, as well as large and small, gives him unique skills in the advancement arena.

Most recently, he served for six years as Associate Vice President for Medical and Health Sciences Development at the West Virgina University Foundation. There, he led fundraising and engagement for the clinical and academic medical initiatives.  His team was successful in completing the largest WVU Medicine capital fundraising campaign to date, which raised more than $80 million for the completion of the WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s building. Under Jeff’s leadership, the medicine and health sciences team increased fundraising in most areas by 15-25% and increased donor engagement through visits (+62%), solicitations (+43%) and solicitation dollars (+125%). 

Prior to joining WVU, he served as Assistant Vice President for Principal Gifts at The Ohio State University, where he managed some of the most important family donor relationships for the University. As a “player/coach”, Jeff oversaw the central major gift team, guided fundraising efforts for the University's Discovery Themes, and helped to create donor strategies for all areas of the University and Medical Center.  He served as Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Emerson College, where he created best practices in alumni, parent and donor relations and developed strategic plans, which led the College to its first-ever comprehensive fundraising campaign. Under Jeff’s leadership, the College experienced three consecutive record-breaking years of fundraising and engagement.
