Marts&Lundy is pleased to announce that Peter Hayashida has been elected Chair of the firm’s Board of Directors, effective March 18, 2024. Hayashida joined Marts&Lundy in 2022 after serving as Vice Chancellor for Advancement at University of California, Riverside for almost 13 years. Hayashida succeeds Douglas G. Stewart, who assumed the Chair position in 2017 and was elected President & Chief Executive Officer of Marts&Lundy in August 2023.

Hayashida has deep experience in advancement leadership, organizational culture, and talent management, as well as planning for and executing university campaigns. As Vice Chancellor at UC Riverside, Hayashida led development, alumni engagement, and communications and marketing. Previously, he spent 19 years at UCLA and was on the advancement executive team that ran and closed UCLA’s second comprehensive fundraising effort, which generated more than $3 billion for faculty research, student success, programs, and facilities and transformed the University’s culture of philanthropy.

“I have worked with Peter for more than a decade, first as a Marts&Lundy client at UC Riverside, and later as a Marts&Lundy colleague,” shared Stewart. “Peter possesses the leadership prowess to guide our board with a vision that will leverage the best of our history, employ the synergistic talent we have today, and prepare us to continue to serve as the leading fundraising consulting firm well into the future.”

“Being part of the Marts&Lundy community has offered insight into the key factors that position the firm among our sector’s leaders. The spirit of collaboration, commitment to client service, and drive to innovate differentiate us in the field,” said Hayashida. “Expanding my own contributions into leadership is a welcome opportunity to engage with clients and colleagues alike to grow the impact and reach of Marts&Lundy across the charitable sector.”
